Improving health and well-being of people, especially fromsocially marginalized communities, have been my personal aswell as professional commitment as a physician and public healthpractitioner. My prime endeavors to approach this goal has beenthe IDPD, Polyclinic and CHARM. The Polyclinic was foundedin 1985 by a group of doctors committed to address the healthneeds of the marginalized people of Bihar. As one of the tworesident doctors and founding members, I have been treatingpatients at a nominal charge at the Polyclinic since mid-1980s. Asthe Executive Director and founder of CHARM, I have beenengaged in capacitating and facilitating marginalizedcommunities to ensure their participation in health care system,its planning and monitoring since 1999. I have also been activelyengaged as a member of International Campaign to AbolishNuclear Weapons (Nobel Peace Prize recipient for 2017);International Physicians for Prevention of Nuclear War (NobelPeace Prize recipient for 1985); and the State Convener of the JanSwasthya Abhiyan (affiliated to the Public Health Movement).
