Abstract:

Introduction: Number of deaths and disabilities due to all typesof violence has been increased; violence and more specially warheavily affect public and individual health and all sectors includehealth sector are responsible for making attempts to take part inmitigation of war effects and health workers should be aware oftheir roles and tasks. However, peace through health has not sofar been globally included in curriculum of any basic medicalschools.Methods: A generalized search in PubMed, Embase, Scopus,Google Scholar databases and Goole has been conducted lookingfor relevant articles, books and courses with combination of thekey terms: Peace through Health , peace , war , conflict , violence , health , medicine , health sector , healthprofessionals , health workers , medical education , framework and courses Results and Discussion: Health workers consider war as aserious contagious disease that needs to be prevented like anyother diseases. prevention manoeuvres at the primordial, primary,secondary and tertiary stages are the important roles that can becarried out by health professionals; there is an increasing demandfor establishment of some courses to teach the health workers thebackground , the concepts and the principles and prepare them forconflict transformation ;the roles and the ways of performing theroles are not a part of medical curriculum and for better executionof these roles, Peace through Health courses should be developed and then integrated to the current curriculum of health-relateduniversities.Conclusion: The work of developing Peace through Healthcourses has been started before and it will be continued till itcompletely become a well-established accepted global course.
