Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to compare mental well-being (life satisfaction, positive affection and negative affection) of fathers with exceptional and normal children. In this post-event research, 400 fathers (200 fathers with exceptional children and 200 fathers with normal children) were selected by simple and multi-stage random sampling and participated in the study. Research tools include: Mental well-being scale of life satisfaction [1], Positive and Negative Affective Program [2]. The results obtained through multivariate analysis of variance showed that there was a significant difference in the dimensions of mental well-being between the two groups, in the dimensions of life satisfaction and positive affection, fathers with normal children and in the negative affection of fathers with exceptional children gained a high score. The results show that the existence of an exceptional child can affect the mental health and mental well-being of fathers.
