Abstract:

The genus Salvia has recently attracted great attention due to its notable biological activities. Within this context, in this study, the acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and butrylcholinesterase (BuChE) enzymes inhibition effects of three extracts (hexane, ethylacetate and methanol) of Salvia chloroleuca were evaluated. According to the obtained results the methaol extract of the plant showed the highest AChE and BChE inhibition potential. The 80 ppm solution of the plant showed the highest inhibition against AChE and BChE with the values of 79.5 and 92.5 percent, respectively. This ability could be related to its metabolite including phenolic, flavonoid, tannins and saponines contents. It has been approved that methanol solvent exhibited the highest ability in extraction of the mentioned compounds.
