Abstract:
In this investigation an attempt has been made to compare the effect on durability properties of SCC by addition of steel and polypropylene fibres in various volume fractions. For this comparative study crimped steel fibres of aspect ratio 60 and polypropylene fibres of 0.5mm thickness and 12mm length was used. The volume fraction of fibres ranges from 0% to 0.15% to an equal interval of 0.05%. The use of materials like fly ash in SCC reduces the dose of super plasticizer, to get good slump flow comparing with only OPC. In this particular case the mix design as for M40 grade concrete has been made using Nan su method. The main variable is volume fractions of fibres. Various durability tests such as Acid test, Chloride test, Sulphate test, Water absorption test, RCPT test, Corrosion test, Elevated temperature test and Abrasion test were conducted and the test results are discussed. Thus the present study highlights to substantiate usage of fibres to enhance durability properties
