Abstract:
In this study, the effect of FRP retrofit on the fracture behavior of concrete specimens have been investigated during an experimental test program. This paper represents the fracture parameters three point bending tests of intact and notched (damaged) on two distinguish retrofitted and un-retrofitted condition. The experimental test results obtained here indicated that for intact concrete specimens, there would be approximately 285% in ultimate flexural strength tests. The laboratory test results also showed that for the notched concrete specimens tested here, there might be approximately 318% in ultimate flexural strength tests. It is found that the near failure behavior of the notched specimens have been significantly improved using FRP retrofit of such specimens. A developed fracture mechanics based model considers the global energy balance of the system and predicts the FRP debonding failure load by characterizing the dominant mechanisms of energy dissipation during debonding. Model validation is provided from previous and this research experimental data; In addition, fracture mechanics parameters was find out for three point bending test in this paper for better understanding on fracture behavior and fracture properties of plain concrete specimens.
