Abstract:

Intelligent systems in engineering structures are systems that are automatically able to adapt structural behavior in response to unplanned loading, in order to provide safety, life span and structural efficiency. One of the new technologies that make it possible to achieve these goals is to build and develop intelligent materials. Memory-type alloys are examples of these materials that have a super-elastic property. One of the fields of application of these materials in the passive control of structures, using them as bolt and nut joints. The use of superalloys in this type of energy depreciation system will increase the shape and, most importantly, create a restorative capability, and thus provide acceptable seismic performance. In this paper, ABAQUS software for cyclic nonlinear analysis is used to investigate the seismic behavior of the beam to the steel column, the column-to-column joints with a memory-shaped alloy, and the screw connection using a resilient bolt. The results show that the beam-to-column connection is equipped with a memory-shaped alloy having high energy absorption properties, and also has high reversibility, so it can restore the initial conditions and reduce residual defects.
