Abstract:

Removal of waste and reuse of them is one of the most environmental concerns, today. The Building industry is a major consumer of natural resources and in the meantime, producer of wastes. Lack of enough spaces for landfilling waste securely increase disposal cost and therefore waste utilization emerges as an apt attractive alternative for this aim. The reuse of construction wastes could help to protect of natural resources and decrease environmental contaminations. Due to the increasing demand and reduction of natural gravel resources, proposed recycled ceramic aggregate as a partial replacement of natural gravel so makes this concrete more economic.The characteristics of concrete made of recycled ceramic as an alternative of natural gravel have been evaluated including compressive strength, tensile strength, electrical resistance, and resistance to acid environment. In this research, waste ceramic use as a gravel in concrete with different replacing percentage and silica fume as a Pozolanic additive in making of green concrete. Regarding experiment results, it can be concluded that adding waste ceramic replacing gravel up to 20% to concrete as a gravel leads to increase of compressive strength and a decrease of concrete production costs and use of silica fume leads to increase of compressive strength and also durability against acidic aggressive environment, too
