A Survey on Social Factors Affecting Social Health in Nurses in Educational Hospitals of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences in 2018

Introduction: Social health along with physical and mental health is one of the components of health. This study aimed to investigate social factors affecting social health in nurses of educational hospitals of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences.Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive-analytical study was performed on 340 nurses of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences in 2013. The data collection tool was the Key Health Social Safety Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient and multivariate linear regression using SPSS-23 software at a significant level of α = 0.05.Results: The average score of nurses social health was 64.43 ± 6.37. Then social cohesion with the mean of 3.52 ± 1.02 was highest and social flourishing with a mean of 3.05 ± 0.8 in the social health dimensions. There was a significant relationship between educational level variables (F = 2/28, P = 0.001) and employment relationship (F = 1/40, P = 0.03) with social health level. Also, there was a significant statistical relationship between gender variables (t = 1.16, p = 0.02) and marital status (t = 0.21, p = 0.04).Conclusion: The social health of nurses was estimated to be good . The components related to the level of social health in this study, the level of education, employment relationship and marital status, should be considered seriously.
