Abstract:

Background :Intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) included about 5% to 10% of cases pregnancies. These children are facing many problems in long-term including, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, heart disease, Cognitive and behavioral problems like attention disorder and aggressive behaviors. So these children need physical and mental support in the long term. Objective: The aim of this study is investigate the factors affecting the self-efficacy of mother in neonatal care with intrauterine restriction growth. Method: This study reviewed more 30 articles from 2010 to 2019 with search in reliability web site as PubMed, Web of science, Sciensedirect, Google Scholar, Uptodate and Scopus. The keywords used in this study were self-efficacy, infant care, and intrauterine growth restriction. Studies didn’t have this words in title excluded from review. Results: Findings of some studies showed IUGR is important element that affect on maternal and child health. Infant was born with IUGR causes emotional and psychological pressure, stress and anxiety in mother and lack of confidence in her ability to take responsibility and role of motherhood that affect their performance(P <0.01). Also other Variables such as postpartum depression, lack of social support and satisfaction Marital had negative correlation with mother s self-efficacy(P <0/01). Conclusion: Maternal self-efficacy can predict cognitive and behavioral development of infants with IUGR. It is recommended that these mothers be screened about self-efficacy before discharge from hospital and if necessary, social support and comprehensive education to partner and family must be used.
