Abstract:

Introduction: Preterm delivery refers to the termination of pregnancy before full 37 weeks that a serious complication is with incidence of 8-20% of childbirth. Depression is the fourth cause of disability in the world which is a significant issue during pregnancy and can lead to self-neglect, lack of prenatal care and self-care, inadequate nutrition, cigarette smoking, drug use, low birth weight and early delivery. Accordingly, the present study aimed to investigate the Prevalence of depression during pregnancy in women with preterm deliveryMethod and Materials: The present study is a descriptive-analytic study in which the study population are women with preterm delivery in shiraz city. 30 women with preterm delivery were selected by randomly sampling. Data were collected using beck depression Questionnaire before and two week after intervention. Validity and reliability of this questionnaire has been approved in Persian language. After completing the questionnaires, the collected data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics in SPSS, version 20.Results: The findings showed that depression was 47% among subjects under study. we found significant relationship between preterm delivery and depression.Conclusion: According to the results of this study, it is suggested that the measurement and control of mental and psychological factors in prenatal care, as well as other biological and medical factors, should be included.
