Abstract:
Motor Current Signature Analysis has been successfully used in induction machines for broken rotor bars fault diagnosis. The method however does not always achieve good results when the load torque is not constant. For proper results temporal analysis on determined harmonics is needed. In this paper, a novel diagnostic algorithm based on a discrete wavelet transformation and RMS calculation is developed. The method is also examined on laboratory experimental data where rotor broken bar faults are detected successfully.
