Abstract:

Acinic cell carcinoma is a rare parotid tumor. Herein, a forty three years old man is presented who was suffering from swelling and pain in neck left side for about one month. CT scan and ultrasonography Images showed benign parotid tumor affection. Afterwards, the patient underwent total parotidectomy. The gross examination revealed an encapsulated gray brownish fragile mass accompanied with lymph nodes. Microscopic findings showed a neoplasm composed of a typical epithelial cells with round vesicular nuclei and abundant basophilic granular cytoplasm. The tumor showed acinar growth pattern. Based on, the diagnosis was acinar cell carcinoma. All dissected lymph nodes were free from tumor. No vascular and perineural invasion was detected. After the surgery, thirty sessions radiotherapy treatment were performed for the patient. Now, his health condition is satisfactory in total and he only complains from numbness of his face left side.
