Macrobenthoses as Indicators of Water Quality in Ortkand River- Iran

The significant pollution in Ortkand river in Iran caused by fish farm effluent has an effect on macrobenthoses. In response to this, we have carried out a study from 2016 to 2017 at 4 stations in the Ortkand river in four seasons. We determin the species richness of macrobenthoses using EPT index. Also, the physical and chemical parameters of each station were also. The results of this study showed that the lowest EPT index was observed at the wastewater station. There was a significant positive correlation DO with EPT richness, and also significant negative correlation between BOD with EPT richness index.
