Abstract:

Platelet is one of blood component which has 3 to 5 days life span and there is great interest in using expired platelet concentrates (PC) for regenerative purposes. Platelet has many bioactive molecules can act as growth factor which promote wound healing. Chronic wound shows a very serious problem for patients suffer from diabetic foot ulcer. Management of such wound is very expensive and has economic pressure on health services and patient, so there are many benefits to use PCs to heal these wound because of its cost effectiveness. PCs lysate has many biomolecules which can promote cell migration, proliferation and can form a skin barrier. One of the most important molecules is PDGF which present in α-granule of platelets. It binds to PDGE- receptor and its signaling leads to attraction of inflammatory cells, mitosis induction, proliferation, remodeling of affected site and make cells to produce collagen and other matrix components. But today. There is an imbalance between need and supply of PCs. So expired PCs are noticeable sources. There are few researches on effect of expired PCs on regeneration and comparison between expired PCs and other platelet product. So it seems better to get more attention to this area
