خلاصه مقاله:
Introduction As a powerful tool in regenerative medicine, Craniofacial Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs) are a heterogeneous self-renewal population, possessing multilineage differentiation potential to bone, fat, and cartilage tissues. In last decade, Stem cells from Human Exfoliated Deciduous teeth (SHED) are notable because of immunomodulatory properties, noninvasive procedure, easy access and little ethical concerns. So, authors aim to reconsider hopes and hypes of applying SHEDs as a therapeutic approach.MethodsData of this article were accomplished from PubMed, Google Scholar, Wiley, Springer, Science Direct and Elsevier databases since 2003 by using 5 keywords. From approximately 100, totally, 43 were selected based on our inclusion and exclusion criteriaResultsSHEDs have high proliferation, clonogenic capacity and immature multipotency in Dental-derived SCs. They can differentiate into functional odontoblasts, secreting mineralized dentin matrices. SHEDs also can induce new end bulb formation and hair growth when associated with upper follicle epithelium. They were reported to enhance wound healing in an excisional wound-splinting mouse model. Secretion of neurotrophic factors from SHEDs, could be beneficial for motor neurons repairing after stroke. They can be utilized in alleviating Parkinson s disease, Alzheimer s disease, cerebral palsy and even Systemic Lupus Erythematosus associated disorders. After 5 years of cryopreservation, they showed proliferation and osteogenesis capacity.ConclusionDealing with frustrating challenges, focuses attention of basic medical scientists and specialists on SHEDs. These cells, not only can be used for cell-based and bio-artificial tissue constructs, but also for differentiation into another cell types
