Abstract:

IntroductionThe goal of endodontics is saving the teeth. Necrotic teeth and immature permanent teeth need to endodontic treatment. Regenerative endodontics defined as procedures designed to replace damaged teeth structure. Application scaffolds are one of the procedures that used in regenerative endodontics. Scaffolds have closely resembled extracellular matrix. Application scaffolds prospects related to the regeneration of both dentin and pulp tissue and, more recently, to root canal disinfection. The aim of this review is to provide vision about the application in regenerative endodontics.Method and materials:By searching related articles with keywords regenerative endodontics and scaffold in PubMed database we found 647 articles (from 1 April 2010 to 1 April 2017). We excluded 600 articles. The other studies we selected were all eligible studies which restricted to our article. Results:Application scaffolds prospects related to the regeneration of both dentin and pulp tissue and, more recently, to root canal disinfection. Nonetheless, no single implantable scaffold can consistently guide the coordinated growth and development of the multiple tissue types involved in the functional regeneration of the pulp-dentin complex. Conclusion:Evidence has demonstrated the potential for the currently advocated revascularization technique in regenerative endodontics by application scaffolds. However, despite the promising observations, treatment still limited
