Abstract:

Epistasis, commonly defined as the interaction between multiple genes, is an important genetic component underlying phenotypic variation [1]. Genetic epistasis is important in regulating biological function and is considered to explain part of the ‘missing heritability,’ which involves marginal genetic effects that cannot be accounted for in genome-wide association studies [2]. In beef cattle, few studies have applied the effect of dominance and epistatic on genetic parameters [3] and [4]. This study aimed to estimation epistatic variance and other variance component using PEPIS software for carcass traits of beef cattle. When PEPIS program used for estimation of variance component , heritability were higher than in compare with using only additive model for computing heritability. In results PEPIS can be observe genetic structure for study traits have different. Marbling score trait have only additive varaince, for ulterasond back fat traits observed two variance component(VA and VAA) and in Back fat, Hot carcass weight traits have three variance compnenet.
