Abstract:

Hordeum vulgare is an annual grass from the Poaceae family, and it is the fourth largest grain crop globally, after wheat, rice, and corn. Hordeum vulgare, which is also an economically important crop, is an excellent model plant for molecular biologists, biochemists and geneticists [1]. For improving the quality and yield of the crop, understanding the molecular mechanisms and PPIN is essential [2]. However, the limitation of experimental methods used to identify PPIs are huge financial costs and time-consuming experiments when employed on a large scale [3]. In silico studies is an alternative technique that can be used to identify PPIs. This method is based on the hypothesis that the interaction between proteins and also the function of them, are conserved across their evolutionary lineage [4]. Therefore, in this study predicting PPIs in Hordeum vulgare was carried out by the mapping derived orthologous protein to experimental PPIs from model organisms. Arabidopsis thaliana, Oryza sativa, Homo sapiens, Drosophila melanogaster, Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Caenorhabditis elegans are six model organisms that we used in our study. So, we reported the first predicted protein-protein interactome for Hordeum vulgare which contains 235,966 unique interactions between 7,350 different proteins.
