Abstract:

Two new Cd(II) and Cu(II) complexes [Cd(L22py)Cl]ClO4(1), [Cu(L22py)Cl]ClO4(2),{L22py = N-(2-pyridylmethyl)-N-(2-aminoethyl)-1,2-diaminoethane, were prepared by the reaction of appropriate metal ion salts and L22py in the presence of NaClO4. The resulting compounds were characterized by elemental analysis and IR in both cases.The Cd(II) ion is in an sixcoordinate environment that is best described as a distorted octahedral. The environment around the Cu(II) ion is described as a square. Also the synthesized complexes were screened for their antibacterial activities against four bacterial strains and showed antibacterial effects.
