Abstract:

Introduction & Aim:Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in the world. PTEN gene is located on the long arm of chromosome 10. It has a protein similar to phosphatase and tensin. The PTEN gene regulates the production of tyrosine phosphatase, a tumor suppressor role. This anti-tumor property has an effect on phosphatase activity and cell cycle interactions. Materials and Method: In this study, 76 women with breast cancer in Ardebil province as a group and 100 healthy women as control group were studied. DNA extraction was carried out using saline ethanol deposition method. To determine the type of genotype of both The group was tested using PCR-RFLP method. Results: The mean age of the subjects in the patient group was 51 ± 1 years and the control group was 49 ± 8 years. The tumor volume in the groups containing hair follicle was 5 ± 19 cm and in the group containing normal allele was 7.7 ± 18 mm. The frequency of hair follicles in the group Control was 24% and in the patient group was 36%. In terms of frequency of heterozygote gene in comparison with dominant and recessive homozygotes, both groups showed a significant correlation with the incidence of disease(OR = 3.18-CL 95% = 1.19 - 12.17) (P = 0.001) Also, there was a significant correlation between the number of lymph nodes involved with presence of Allan Mouton in the patients with disease incidence (P <0.005). Conclusion: Based on the results, increasing the frequency of mutagen alleles in breast cancer patients compared to the control group showed the association of PTEN gene with breast cancer in women, which can be used as one of the pre-identification factors.
