Production Protease by Serratia marcescens during In Vitro Antagonism with Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. Melonis Production Protease by Serratia marcescens

In our previous study, Serratia marcescens showed an antagonistic activity against Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. melonis in the dual culture method. In order to identify protease producing S. marcescens isolates used from the skim milk agar medium and creating a clear halo around the colony of S. marcescens at the plate surface indicates protease activity. All isolates of S. marcescens showed protease activity. Therefore, the activity of enzyme protease inhibited mycelial growth of the pathogen and it is one of the antagonistic mechanisms of S. marcescens against F. o. f.sp. melonis.
