Abstract:

Injection of narcotics and analgesics is the main cause of postoperative pain control in patients undergoing laparoscopic stomach (LAGB). But the effectiveness of these treatments is less due to complications such as drug toxicity on healthy cells, sexual dysfunction, respiratory problems, etc. Therefore, the use of complementary and alternative therapies has been considered. In several studies, the effect of aromatherapy on the rate of receiving post-operative delivery of gastric laparoscopy has been investigated. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of aromatherapy on the intake of opioid in patients with morbidly obese after laparoscopic stomach in the special care unit. Material and Methods: In this critical review article, articles in PubMed and Web of Science are searched in English from 2000 to 2016, with laparoscopic, aromatherapy, morbidly, obese, patients, gastric banding, opioid requirements care unit. The full text of observational and empirical studies was studied based on the criteria for entering the study, and the quality and results of the studies were analyzed and criticized by two authors. Findings: 8 of the study had entry criteria. The study found that patients who used an inhaler aromatherapy with essential oils of lavender, geranium, rose, etc. by oxygen mask and for 30-60 minutes, three times after the procedure, then those who underwent Routine care and antivascular medications such as morphine, pethidine, and others. In addition to less pain, the amount of need for opioid is also lower. This is despite the fact that patients with routine care have more demand for opioid because their pain intensity is higher than the aroma group. Conclusion: The findings of the current study showed that when a fragrance is inhaled, its molecules are transmitted through the limbic system to the limbic system in the brain, and the center responds to stimulated and exerts its own psychological effects. Nurses, using complementary and alternative therapies, can be the leading provider of ease of comfort, care and overall care for patients with obesity after surgery. It is suggested that the effect of the herbal remedy on the effects of post-operative gastric discharge, the length of stay in the hospital, and on the side effects of respiratory medications with future human clinical studies.
