Abstract:

Since the beginning of the 21st century Silk Route is rising again as an important factor on the world map. In the medieval times, the silk route was the world’s most important cross border highway, at a time when Asia was a major trade and economic centre of the world. The silk route refers to an extensive pan-Asia interconnected network of trade routes across the Asian continent connecting East, South, Central and West Asia with the Mediterranean including North Africa and Europe. Over the past decades of globalization, Asia has re-emerged as one of the major economic power of the world. Since 1990, the revival of the silk route is being discussed at all the levels by interested states, organizations and intelligentsia and also by the cultural and business circles. The silk route connectivity is mainly to improve the linkages and increase the regional cooperation and develop trade and economic relations.
