Abstract:
Radiography is one of medical imaging methods by which we are able to know some diseases. Therefore, it is capable of giving very important information to the doctor to diagnose the disease better. Accordingly, radiographic image quality has an important role in the doctor’s interpretation. One of the most important issues to be considered is noise reduction in medical images. In this research, the purpose is to provide an efficient method to improve noise reduction in radiographic images; using thresholding-based wavelet transform method has provided the appropriate results to improve the quality of the collected images of different patients. As a result, we have tried to reduce theresulted errors by introducing threshold functions and also selecting the best threshold function among traditional and new threshold functions and choosing the best mother wavelet function and the most appropriate level of wavelet transform and considering different noise parameters through evaluating evaluation factors such as MSE and PSNR of noise-impregnated radiographic medical image quality.
