This paper considers the methodology to model the shear stiffness of spherical particles in contact. The stiffness contact property in tangential (shear) direction for individual spherical particles is further explored by using finite element analysis. The simulation is split into three load steps to provide better converging. The results are compared with related Mindlin-Deresiewicz theory and show fairly good agreement.
