Abstract:

Catalysts that made of clay have been widely used in oil refinery and petrochemical industries such as aromatic plant. One of the most important problems that petrochemical industry facing to it is spent catalyst, whereas land filling of this material is expensive method, nowadays trying to utilize this material in another manufactures as additive such as fire-proof materials, building materials and cement. This study has been investigated utilization Tonsil clay catalyst of aromatic petrochemical industries on Portland cement type ΙΙ and effect of it on cement properties. The result of analysis Tonsil by X-Ray detection (XRD) and chemical method have showed its composition is as same as spent Fluidized cracking catalyst there for can be added to Portland cement such as pozollan material and heavy metals contained is less than environmental standard range. This paper has been investigated effect of amount of spent catalyst(5, 10 and 15% w/w) on cement properties (comprehensive and bending strength) during day (3,5 and 28) The result showed that it only caused cement comprehensive stress decrease less than 18 % and bending strength declined less than 17% if added 15 % (W/W).
