Abstract:

Introduction: The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a bloodborne virus and the most common modes of infection are through exposure to small quantities of blood of many people in the world that have hcv infection. preliminary studies suggest that Hepatitis can affect many of the liver function and is considered a health hazard and increases the risk of other diseases such as diabetes.Method: This study was performed by searching article related to type 2 diabetes and hepatitis C in adults in PUBMED, SIENCE DIRECT and SCOPUS using three Hepatitis C virus, Diabetes mellitus, adult and their combination from year 2005 to 2018. Finally, 8 article were investigated in this period and in direct relation with this subject. Results: Several reports have claimed a specific association between HCV infection and type 2 diabetes. Results of these different studies indicate that HCV may increase the body s enzyme resistance, which is a primary risk factor for type 2 diabetes. Also, hepatitis C virus treatment methods may lead to type 2 diabetes. In most of the studies conducted to investigate the relationship between hepatitis C and diabetes, there is a relationship between diabetes and impaired glucose tolerance in liver disease. Also, studies demonstrate that severity of liver disease is associated with the risk of a glucose metabolism disorder.conclusion: Overall, studies have shown that there is no evidence that hepatitis C infection can cause diabetes, and it seems that insulin resistance is due to hepatitis C. However, further studies are needed to understand the association between these two diseases.
