خلاصه مقاله:
At present moment there is concern over global climate change, as well as a growing awareness on worldwide population about the need on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing energy sources. This in fact, has led to a development in power generation from renewable sources. Tidal energy has the potential to play a valuable and vital role in a sustainable energy future. Its main advantage over other renewable sources is its predictability; tides can be predicted years in advanced. A tidal barrage harnesses the potential energy while tidal stream turbines capture the energy from tidal currents. Tidal range power plants, particularly tidal barrages and tidal lagoons, are gaining governmental and public support and establishing commercial aim and interest. The technology that is required to build a barrage has been around for over 80 years, but there are several challenges to overcome, the most pressing being an assessment of the environmental impact of such schemes.
