Reducing Production Costs by Employing Parts Commonality Indices and Standardization Procedures

This research proposes a procedure for standardizing parts by production process within a production line platform. It presents a new method utilizing product family indices to perform process-specific standardization. To that end, it presents a novel approach for standardizing parts by production process from BOM using a database.
