Industrial Engineering A Success Story in Germany, a Good Chance for Iran Case Study: Sports Hall Isfahan

Industrial Engineering is used to attain world market leadership in terms of efficiency, economy, sustainability, attractiveness, quality and safety. To attain this leadership, design has to be based on systematic product development. Designers are largely responsible for the total cost of products including all the post-design stages: calculation, fabrication, transport, erection and maintenance. In order to evaluate the relevant effects of this strategy, the German approach is compared with the situation in Iran. The results of designers who have no in-depth knowledge of these consecutive steps are compared with those of designers who have been trained to invest all their engineering skills in product development before starting the design process. The difference is illustrated by a real case involving the design, fabrication and erection of an attractive sports hall in Isfahan, Iran
