Abstract:

Microgrid is a fundamental solution for increasing technical and economical ability of distributed generation (DG) systems and renewable energies with many advantages such as increased general system yield, high quality of power and responding to high reliability for sensitive loads. This paper considers the wind resources as an independent microgrid according to natural and alternative nature of wind, it is essential to use an energy storage resource (battery) for adopting generated and consumed powers independent from grid. Therefore, a wind hybrid system is generated requiring a power management algorithm. In this paper, a new power management algorithm is designed based on DC link voltage control and limitation in state of charge (SOC) that without using physical elements (such as overloads of additional power) and only by control changes of system in particular times cause to distribute accurate power between generated and consumed power without considering climate or load change. The results of proposed algorithm simulation showed the positive and desirable function of proposed method for microgrid operation independent from grid.
