Abstract:
This paper presents a brief literature review of the Profiled Steel Sheet Dry Board (PSSDB) system as one of the composite systems consisting of two main elements; Profiled Steel Sheet (PSS) and Dry Board (DB). These elements are attached together by mechanical screws. The system may be used for a variety of structural purposes like floors, roofs, and walls in buildings. Numerical methods especially the Finite Element Method (FEM) has been employed in modeling the system. Furthermore, experimental works have been conducted to understand the actual behaviour of the system. The experimental results show that the FEM is a suitable method to predict the PSSDB behaviour. In addition, the theoretical and experimental results revealed that the PSSDB system is an acceptable system as load-bearing structural elements in buildings under different loads with different natures of loading like dead, live, temperature, fire and wind loads. This paper also stresses on future research works on the PSSDB system to define behaviour of the system under seismic load.
