Abstract:

The renewable energy industry is growing in the world due to the reduction of fossil fuel reserves and climate change and Policymakers have long been interested in promoting renewable energy development. Renewable energy development requires proper policy making, appropriate strategy and, ultimately, coherent planning. Some governments are pursuing programs to support the widespread development of renewable energy systems. Two environmental models, Turkey and Iran are identified as models in this field. Renewable energies sources are becoming attractive solutions for clean and sustainable energy needs for Islamic republic of Iran and Turkey. Regarding the availability of renewable energy sources, Turkey has the highest hydropower and wind energy potential among European countries. Energy policy of Turkey currently aims to maximize geothermal, wind and hydropower potential of the country in next 15 years. Iran s energy policy revolves around the satisfying the growing demand for energy by oil and, in the last fifteen years, by expanding natural gas continuously. There is enough renewable energy potential in Turkey for fuels and electricity, especially that this country has favorable conditions in terms of enjoying resources such as hydropower and biomass. About Iran, renewable energy is being used for electricity production and it has direct usage in Iran. Iran has substantial human and material resources to renew its energy supply and to achieve a sustainable energy system. This study examines renewable energy policies in Iran and Turkey and compares them with each other and in addition, present energy situation in Turkey, the status of renewable energies in Iran, availability and potential of renewable energy sources in Turkey and Iran and discuss the various aspects of renewable energy sources in both countries in a comparative method are discussed. The method of this study is on energy policy and its focuses in Turkey and Iran is practical assessment in the historical dimensions and processes of energy productivity and application.
