Abstract:

Springback is one of common problems in metal forming area. If it is neglected in designing and manufacturing considerations, it will lead to manufacture the incomplete products. On the other hand, prediction of metal forming problems (e. g springback) depends on variety of parameters. Thus, in this paper, effect of various hardening models as well as solid and shell elements on cross-section deformation (CSD) and springback prediction was investigated by ABAQUS simulation based on finite element method (FEM). A simple approach based on half-cycle data was used in the case of combined iso-nonlinear kinematic hardening, instead of several stabilized cycles ones to calibrate the material constants. At last, influence of some physical and numerical factors on springback and CSD and springback prediction was investigated. The results indicated that combining the hardening laws improve the springback prediction. Moreover, shell elements are more capable for CSD prediction, whereas solid ones are more suitable for springback prediction. The parameter study confirmed that prediction of metal forming issues is so sensitive and difficult.
