Cyclic Wetting and Drying Behavior of a Compacted Soil

Experimental cyclic wetting-drying tests were performed on compacted expansive soil samples to study the effect of sample deformation on wetting-drying behavior of an expansive soil. The tests were carried out in a modified conventional oedometer apparatus at a surcharge pressure of 6.25 kPa. The test results revealed that swell-shrink was reversible when the vertical deformation, water content and specific volume during cyclic of wetting and drying were the same
