Abstract:
An experimental program was undertaken to investigate the effects of district short natural fibers on the strength and mechanical behaviour of a cohesive soil. In the present study, three groups of soil samples were prepared at three different percentage of natural fiber content (i.e., 10, 20 and 30% ) by weight of soil. Triaxial compression tests (CU) were carried out on samples at different confining pressure. The test results indicated that the inclusion of fiber reinforcement soil caused an increase in shear strength and stiffness of soil sample. Furthermore the increasing fiber inclusion developed more pore water pressure.
