Abstract:
The aim of this study was to evaluate toxic impacts of diazinon on liver antioxidant enzymes in Wistar rats. Animals were divided into two groups of six: the first group used as control and the second, was orally treated with diazinon for 28 days. Antioxidant enzymes activity were determined in the liver. Our results showed that diazinon exposure stimulated significant changes in the antioxidant system in diazinon -treated rats. This pesticide induced significant decline in the activity of catalase, glutathione peroxidase and glutathione-S-transferase and reduced glutathione content in liver. In conclusion, our findings demonstrate that subacute exposure of diazinon can induce oxidative stress in rats.
