Abstract:

Introduction :The cutaneous deposition of calcium salts (calcinosis cutis) divided into dystrophic, metastatic and idiopathic forms. One of the idiopathic forms is milia-like calcinosis. This form of calcinosis cutis is very rare and characterized by multiple whitish milia-like papules mostly found on the hands, genital areas, thighs or knees. This milia-like pattern of calcification may occur with Down syndrome. They usually disappear spontanously and recognition of this dermatologic disorder is important to avoiding unnecessary interventions. This disorder first reported in 1978.Since then 25 cases have been reported.Due to the rarity of the lesion we decided to report it. Case report : We report a 16-year-old otherwise healthy man, who has developed milia-like idiopathic calcinosis cutis on his hands for two years. Conclusion : 25 cases of milia-like calcinosis cutis have been reported thusfar and few of them occuring in a patient without Down s syndrome. Therefor, we decided to report this rare dermatological disorder.
