Abstract:

BACKGROUND : Neuroendocrine pancreatic tumors originate from pancreatic endocrine tissues. These tumors are divided into functional and non-functional types. If the tumor produces hormones, it is called functional and if not, it is called non-functional. Symptoms in the functional tumor are due to hormone production and in the non-functional tumor due to the primary tumor volume or due to metastasis. 2 to 4 cases per million are reported each year.Case Report: The patient was a 19-year-old married woman who presented with epigastric pain. Ultrasound and CT scans revealed a mass in the pancreatic tail and left para-aorta. There was no liver and abdominal metastasis and seeding. The patient underwent distal subcutaneous pancreatectomy and splenectomy. In Pathologic studies , tumor cells were observed in nests surrounded by capillaries. Tumor cells are small to medium sized and have large and pleomorph nuclei. In this tumor, the biology and microscopic appearance are incompatible, meaning that it is encapsulated and bland cells appear to be benign, but in fact it is a malignant tumor . The tumor was Well Differentiated Neuroendocrine Neoplasm Grade II.
