Abstract:

This study intended to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials on the effect of Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) on success breastfeeding. Required data were collected by searching databases. Twenty articles were included. Breastfeeding success rate was higher in the KMC than Conventional Neonatal Care (CNC). The between-groups difference in the mean Infant Breast-Feeding Assessment Tool (IBFAT) scores was 1.50(95%CI, 1.23-1.77). Breastfeeding was initiated very sooner in the KMC group. Conclusion: Findings indicate a superiority of KMC over CNC in terms of success breastfeeding. Assessing the complications and costs of KMC implementation recommended.
