Abstract:

In this research with respect to limitation of Ablation casting water-soluble binder, tried to spray water directly on the surface of the unsolidified cast by using disassembler mold combined by Sodium Silicate binder. this method used in this study for the first time and introduced as CWS (Cast Water Spray) which known as modified ablation casting. To understand the efficiency of the gating system and know the water spray time and solidification stages, PROcast simulation software and Thermal Analysis applied. The compassion of two casting process on A356 alloy shows finer and more homogenous microstructure in CWS due to the elimination of geometry modulus effect by early water spray. SDAS reduced 45% and microporosity decreased to a negligible percentage by CWS method. SEM photos show finer intermetallic Iron bearing phase and its morphology changed from plate to Chinese script in CWS which can lead to higher mechanical properties.
