Abstract:

Background and Objective:Bariatric surgery is one of the effective treatment methods for obeseity.Due to the high preivalance of obeseity, number of surgury that carried out in women of reproductive age is increasing.The aim of this review is to analyze the impact of bariatric surgery on maternal health and pregnancy outcomes. Search Method:English language articles were identified in a PubMed,google scholar,scapus,ovid search from 2005 to 2018 using the keywords: pregnancy,bariatric surgery,maternal complications,neonatal outcome.We included high quality studies have available full text that reported effect of bariatric surgery on pregnancy.Exclusion criteria included publication of abstracts only and languages other than English.After analysing data by two researchers between 52 studies,23 studies was choosen. Findings:The evidence -based reaserchs show improved fertility and a reduced risk of pregnancy-induced hypertension, pre-eclampsia, gestatinal diabetes,and macrosomia in pregnant women after bariatric surgery.However, maternal complications include: malnutrition,anemia,preterm birth,Dumping syndrome and low micronutrient levels such as ,Iron deficiency ,hypocalcemia and low levels of vitamin B12,A,D and k was mentioned in studies .The incidence of intrauterine growth restriction ,SGA,LBW,maternal anomaly are also increased . Conclusion:Diet and nutritional status play important role in maternal and neonatal health ,therefore, following up before,during and after pregnancy is very important. Specific nutritional programmes especially nutrient supplementation should be recommended for these women.It is suggested that more evidence-based researches should be down for preparing guideline in this context.
