خلاصه مقاله:
An immersed boundary (IB) technique along with the BGK-lattice Boltzmann (LB) method is utilized for the incorporation of two naturally buoyant solid particles in a Couette flow at finite Reynolds numbers. The immersed boundary method has shown some superiority in definition of the solid boundaries by reducing spurious oscillations in the computed velocity and forces. The aim of this paper is to examine the ability of the IB method in comparison with the standard bounce-back scheme which is frequently used for imposition of a solid boundary for interacting particles. Hydrodynamic interaction of two particles, which is a crucial ingredient of multi-particle suspension flows, is considered as a test case. First, it is assumed that one of the particles is fixed on the centerline of a shear flow while the other particle is mobile. Then, both particles are allowed to be mobile. The effects of different configurations of particles position on the trajectories of mobile particles are studied for the Couette flow usingperiodic inlet-outlet boundary conditions.
