Abstract:
Today because of the importance of environmental limitations, the subject of vehicle pollutions is one of the most important subjects in the automotive industry. In this study the effect of vehicle pollution on the air quality in the city of Tehran is studied. For this purpose, an improved Gaussian mathematical model is developed to estimate the vehicle pollutant dispersions in the ambient air and assessment of air pollution. Somesimulations are done based on driving cycle to investigate the effectiveness of the mathematical model. Here a driving cycle for private vehicles in the city of Tehran is developed. The driving data was collected using the Advance Vehicle Location (AVL) systems. Fuel consumption and emission of vehicles are considered as functions of the driving cycle. The proposed approach is applied to estimate the vehicle emissions and air quality in a sample region in the city of Tehran. The results are evaluated using air quality data obtained from the measurement stations in the region. A parametric study is also done to investigate the influence of some parameters such as traffic condition, wind's speed and height.
