Abstract:

Pollutants of drinking water, such as dye, are currently being studied due to increased concerns about the dangers ofhumans and the environment [1, 2]. In this study, photocatalytic technology is used for the destruction of contaminationwith new TiO2/ceramic nanocomposites(TiO2/C).Because of high surface area, layered or fibrous structure and great adsorption capacities used ceramic as supports in heterogeneous catalysis. Both anatase TiO2 and ceramic (SiO2-ZrO2-Fe2O3-Al2O3) were successfully prepared usingsimplesolgel method. The new TiO2/C was deposited on synthesized ceramic by applying co-precipitation techniques. The characterization of theTiO2/Cwas determined by UV-Vis, XRD, SEM, TEM and FTIR spectroscopy methods. Thephotocatalytic activity of produced materials evaluated by degradation of methylene blue (MB) and methyle orange (MO) dyes under UV light. The results show that the TiO2/Chave superior photocatalytic activity compared to the pure TiO2. The project demonstrates that this nanocompositecan be as idealand practical systems for removinghazardous organic materialsin environmentalapplications.
