Abstract:

Cementing of casing string is one of the most important parts of drilling of oil and gas wells. Nowadays, due to the increasing depth of oil and gas wells it is necessary to use different additives of cement depending on the depth and temperature of the well. These additives are used for a variety of purposes including cement bonding time management, migration control and gas penetration, cement strength enhancement, etc. In this study, the role of nano-silica, graphite nano-platelets, nano-geopolymers and nano-cellulos on improving different properties of cement is discussed. Experiments have shown that the addition of very small amounts of the nanoparticles has greatly improved the desirable properties of the drilling cement and resulted in lower operating costs.
