Abstract:
Dye removal from industrial wastewater is an important environmental concern. In thisstudy, nanoclay has been utilized as the adsorbent for the removal of basic blue 41 froman aqueous solution. In batch experimental set-up, optimum conditions for quantitativeremoval of dye by nanoclay was attained by varying different variables such as adsorbentdosage, initial dye concentration, contact time, and pH. Optimum values were set as pHof 7, 3 gL-1 of adsorbent at contact time of 60 min. The results indicate that nanoclayadsorbs basic blue 41 efficiently and could be employed in wastewater treatment for theremoval of dyes.
