Introduction: Diabetes is a metabolic disease and a growing health problem with increasing prevalence worldwide that causes complications such as nephropathy, retinopathy, amputation and blindness. It is a chronic disorder of carbohydrate, fat and protein metabolism characterized by increased blood sugar in the patient. Renal failure and myocardial infarction, decreased renal function and decreased neural activity are among the long-term complications of this disease. The purpose of this study was to compare the incidence of diabetes mellitus during the implementation of the MI Risk Assessment Program.Materials & Methods: This descriptive-analytical study was performed on all the patients who had been diagnosed as diabetic during the implementation of Myocardial Infarction Risk Assessment Program in target population aged over 30 years.Results: The results showed that due to the continuous follow-up for the implementation of the MI program, the trend of diabetes mellitus diagnosis has increased significantly from 1395 to 1398.Conclusion: Based on the findings of this study, it can be concluded that implementation of Myocardial Infarction Risk Assessment Program can help for early diagnosis of diabetes and ultimately leads to increased patient care and reduction of acute and chronic complications of the diabetes mellitus.
