Abstract:

Background and Objective: Nanoparticles made of biodegradable polymers had become the best approach for nanoparticle making due to their compatibility with the human body[1]. Deferasirox is a rationally-designed oral iron chelator [2]. Its main use is to reduce chronic iron overload in patients who are receiving long-term blood transfusions for conditions such as beta-thalassemia and other chronic anemia [3].Materials and Methods: In this study nanoparticles were prepared by emulsification- solvent method. PVA (MW=30000) was used to provide an external phase. In order to increase the external phase purity, deionized water was used to dissolve the PVA. The nano-emulsion was centrifuged to sediment the polymer nanoparticles. The solution in centrifuge tubes was completely removed from the tube, and poured into vials and freeze dried.Findings: To study releasing rate, four formulations, F1, F5, F7, F10 were reviewed. Considering obtained results, F7 and F10 which contained greater amount from PLGA were faster and had more amount than two other formulations. Also the results showed that more quantities from albumen could cause a delay in drug release.Considering results obtained in this research, releasing technique of nanoparticles obeys the Higuchi law, because it has the most amount of r ^ 2 (F1: r2 = 0.9797) and (F10: r2 = 0.9879).Conclusion: In conclusion, it seems that this method could be used to predict characteristics of polymers used for the selection of the best polymer in this series and probably other polymers for nanoparticle making, particularly for the loading of Deferasirox
